Ailsa and Phil first exchanges glances and some casual conversation in front of their workplace’s coffee machine. One Saturday night, Ailsa decided to give Phil a call just to say hi. Little did she know that four hours later they would still be chatting away into the evening. After their first date, Ailsa and Phil could barely get enough of each other and started doing everything together.
Ailsa and Phil traveled to Thailand together where, after a beautiful dinner together, Phil surprised Ailsa when he got down on one knee in front of the entire restaurant to propose. The couple had a beautiful ceremony near an old town Maritime village, along the gorgeous southern coast of Australia. On Three Photography was there to capture every magical moment.
The wedding was planned during the start of the Australian summer, so the couple figured the weather would be pretty hot. However, the temperature climbed to 105 degrees Fahrenheit (41 degrees Celsius)! Then, halfway through the ceremony, some clouds rolled in overhead and it started pouring! But the rain definitely didn’t stop the two from having a fantastic day surrounded by their friends and family, celebrating their one-of-a-kind love.
When asked what her favorite part of the day was, Ailsa responded, “Can I say the whole day?” She enjoyed the photoshoot in the old town. It was so fun to be with their good friends while getting such fantastic shots together. The photoshoot was filled with smiles and laughter the whole time.
The wedding day was completely relaxed, comfortable, and just a little bit quirky – just like the couple themselves. Many of the decor elements were sourced from vintage shops or created from DIY projects which really added to the wedding’s unique theme.
Ailsa, being the creative individual that she is, couldn’t wait to create the elements and decor in the wedding herself. Ailsa painted the decor and worked with Phil to hand craft the table numbers by cutting marble slabs in half and hand-painting the numbers onto them.
The advice that Ailsa would give to future brides is to focus on saving and cutting costs wherever you can. All it takes is a little bit of effort, but it makes the world of difference. Because of Ailsa’s creativity and dedication to crafting many of the decor items herself saved them a ton of money that was better spend on other elements, like her dress. Buying decor from vintage shops saved her so much money from her wedding budget, and the couple made sure to reuse their colorful ceremony flowers from the arch for their bridal table at the reception.
