In today’s world, weddings have become more than just a union of man and wife. Every bride wants to have a unique celebration that her guests will remember for years to come. Couples try to create a reception with a certain flair that reflects their personalities and shares their love story. Sometimes it seems impossible to start planning and many women are stumped when it comes to the details. Well it’s reality TV to the rescue for struggling brides everywhere. The following list is a compilation of wedding reality shows that provide brides with the do’s and don’ts wedding planning.
Say Yes to the Dress (TLC)
This reality show where brides search upscale boutiques for the perfect dress became so popular that TLC actually made two spin-offs. The network now airs Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta, a Southern twist on the original, and Say Yes to the Dress: Bridesmaids, a show just about bridal party gowns. All three help brides get some great ideas about the perfect dress for their special day. Not only are they able to see tons of styles, but they learn about what different fashion terms mean and what fits go with what body types. The owners and consultants at the shops have tons of wedding style advice for the brides on the show and often give tips to the audience. It’s also a fun way to get excited about dress shopping!
My Fair Wedding (WE tv)
David Tutera, party planner to the stars, has become a wedding fairy godfather to hundreds of brides. As the host of “My Fair Wedding,” Tutera saves disorganized brides from wedding catastrophe just weeks before their big day. By watching the show, lost brides can find guidance and direction to achieve the theme they really want. Many of the women on the show have fantastic ideas but have no clue how to get see them through. David Tutera is always there to get rid of the tacky rhinestones and bring on the Swarovski crystals.
Bridezillas (WE tv)
This show has gotten a lot of hype for revealing how nasty wedding planning can get. “Bridezillas” makes the list to serve as a cautionary tale for brides on the brink of losing it. WE tv even occasionally throws in a “Groomzilla” episode to expose the lesser-known men who go a bit crazy during the engagement. No matter who turns into a monster, the show usually ends with a family member’s feelings getting hurt and someone in the bridal party dropping out. Hopefully brides and grooms watching the show will remember that the point is to have a happy celebration with loved ones only shedding tears of joy.
Four Weddings (TLC)
TLC has come out with the mother of all competition shows with this one. “Four Weddings” brings four totally different brides together to compete for the best wedding and a fantastic, all-inclusive honeymoon of their dreams. Each bride attends the other three weddings and judges them on aspects of the ceremony and reception. It’s a great way to see what works and what doesn’t through the eyes of an unbiased guest.
I Found the Gown (TLC)
This one is a bit similar to “Say Yes to the Dress,” but is more helpful for brides on a budget. The shows revolves around a bridal outlet that sells designer gowns at greatly reduced prices. Owners of the outlet seek out bargains across the country and bring their treasures back for fashionistas in need. By watching this show, brides can learn how to find the perfect dress without breaking the bank.
